Adding voice control to the bed you already have

If the bed is fine but the handset is the problem, you don't need a new bed. YourVoice adds voice control to the electric adjustable bed you already own.

The handset is often the hard part

Most electric adjustable beds come with a small handset: a row of buttons, often with faint symbols, on a cord that slips down the side of the mattress. For plenty of people that works well. For others it is the hardest part of the bed to use. The buttons are too small to press firmly, the symbols are hard to read, or the handset has fallen to the floor just when it is needed.

When the handset is hard to use, people tend to stop adjusting the bed, or wait for someone else to do it for them. The bed can do everything it was bought for; the person just can't get to it.

What YourVoice does

YourVoice is a small module that connects to your bed's control system and links it to Alexa. Once it is set up, you say what you want and the bed moves:

“Alexa, head up”

“Alexa, head down”

“Alexa, bed down”

Many beds also have positions you can call up by name, such as “Alexa, set my bed to flat”. Exactly what you can say depends on your bed, and we give you a command card for yours at the install.

The handset keeps working exactly as before. If the internet drops out, the handset still works, and voice control comes back when the Wi-Fi does. YourVoice works alongside your bed's existing control system; it doesn't replace or rewire it.

Will it work with my bed?

YourVoice works with many electric adjustable beds, from home beds to hi-lo care beds. What decides it is the control box, the motor controller under the bed, rather than the brand on the headboard. Our article Which adjustable beds work with Alexa? explains how to find your bed's details. Send them to us and we'll tell you. Or see the beds that work with YourVoice.

What you need at home

  • Wi-Fi that reaches the bedroom.

  • An Alexa smart speaker near the bed. If you don't have one, we can supply one.

  • An Amazon account. We can set one up for you or link YourVoice to yours.

How it is installed

Most of the setup happens before we arrive. Your module is configured for your bed off site, so the technician arrives with a working system. The home visit covers installation, calibration, testing and training for you and anyone who helps you, and usually takes 60 to 90 minutes.

We install across Australia. A surcharge may apply outside our standard service areas; we'll quote it up front.

What it costs

YourVoice is a one-time cost of $2,490, fully installed: $1,490 for the module, $400 for off-site configuration and $600 for installation, calibration and training at home. There is no subscription. Optional support plans are there if you want them. See full pricing.

It may be funded through the NDIS, Support at Home, DVA and other schemes when an occupational therapist recommends it. See Funding voice control for a bed or recliner.

Quick answers

Do I need a new bed?

No. YourVoice is added to the electric adjustable bed you already have, as long as its control box is one we support.

Does it replace my handset?

No. The handset keeps working as it always has, so you or a carer can use either.

Which voice assistant does it use?

We set up Alexa by default. YourVoice also works with Google Home and Apple HomeKit (Siri).
